Principles
Principles.
These are the commitments behind CAN WE SEE? We wrote them down so we can be held to them, by you and by each other. If we ever break one, tell us.
- 01 Every guest sees the finished film before it goes public.
- 02 We pull anything a guest asks us to, even after they have approved the cut.
- 03 We never keep a moment in that would embarrass us if the guest saw it.
- 04 We never film or publish someone in a state they would not want shown.
- 05 On Outside, if someone asks us not to use their clip, we do not, even if they said yes on camera.
- 06 We never bait, edit, or set someone up to make them look bad.
- 07 If consent is not clear, we cut the person out.
- 08 We never run a clickbait thumbnail, or a title that misrepresents what someone said.
- 09 We do not use a guest's name to attract attention before we have spoken to them.
- 10 We never fake or inflate views, engagement, or social proof.
- 11 We clearly label anything that is sponsored or paid.
- 12 A sponsor never decides who we interview or what we ask.
- 13 We stay an independent project, with no outside editorial control.
- 14 We tell the truth about what we are: an independent project, not a media organisation.
- 15 We do not pretend a piece is finished when it is not.
- 16 When we get something wrong, we correct it openly.
- 17 We are clear when something was staged, re-shot, or set up rather than spontaneous.
- 18 We never sell or share anyone's personal details.
- 19 We only use your contact details to talk to you about the show, and we delete them whenever you ask.
- 20 We publish a name or a face only with that person's consent.
- 21 We would rather hold a film for a month than publish a version we are not sure of.
- 22 We never chase a viral moment at someone's expense.
